Delicos Dojo System
Despite the gradual growth of the elementalist population in Delicos, the League still refuses to allow full-contact Gym battles. Now the elementalists have decided that if they can’t get their powers officially recognized and tested by League competition, they’ll make their own competitive circuit.
These “Dojos” are currently in a legal grey area. The League officially frowns on them, but there’s no law against humans sparring with each other and their pokemon. However, many towns are siding with the League and not allowing Dojos within their limits, so some Dojos are even forced to operate in the wilderness. Advancing through the Dojo system will probably never be a shortcut to government service like League-sanctioned Gym battles. Despite all this, some Gym Trainers and even a Leader or two have been known to make appearances at Dojos.
Dojo battles are always group melees, involving at minimum one elementalist and one companion pokemon on each side, with the battle continuing until one side or the other is completely wiped out. Whereas Gym battles generally seek to test a trainer’s growth through a pokemon’s performance in some way, Dojos are all about testing the teamwork between a fighter and his pokemon. Dojos tend to be themed around their leader’s abilities and to feature pokemon who either use the same attack types as their trainer or complement his or her abilities.
